How We Clean — and What We Never Do

We clean the way the preservation professionals do, because a headstone has to last generations, not just look good this week.

  • D/2 Biological Solution — the same product trusted at Arlington National Cemetery and used across the national cemeteries. It safely removes algae, moss, lichen, and mold, and keeps working for weeks after we leave.
  • Soft brushes and gentle hand tools only — nylon and natural-bristle brushes, plastic scrapers, plenty of clean water.
  • Every stone checked first — if a stone is cracked, rocking, or coming apart, we photograph it and tell you before anything touches it.
  • Free before-and-after photos with every single cleaning.
  • Never bleach — it leaves salts inside the stone that crumble it from within.
  • Never pressure washers — they cut and pit stone and erase lettering.
  • Never wire brushes or metal tools — they scratch the surface and open it to faster damage.
  • Never acid cleaners — acids dissolve marble and limestone, including the inscription itself.

Why CrossTrade

This work isn't new to us. Cemetery work is where Jonathan started out — right out of high school he was digging graves and setting stones across this same Wiregrass soil. Headstone Care brings that experience full circle: local hands, the right products, and the patience to do it the way it ought to be done.
